The PMF Class of 2019 application opens Noon (ET), Tuesday, October 9 through Monday, October 22 at Noon ET. Information on eligibility and how to apply can be found under the Become a PMF section on the official Presidential Management Fellows program website.

The announcement can be found at www.USAJOBS.gov, by searching for “Presidential Management Fellows” when the application opens. The basics can be found at pmf.gov.

In addition to OPM’s official PMF resources, here on Pathtopmf.com you’ll find a range of additional insights on the PMF Program, including:

GovLoop is releasing an updated guide for applying to the 2019 PMF cohort mid-next week. Keep an eye out for it!

  • Hannah Moss

The guide is live! Share your thoughts and let us know your questions here!

    • Just an Observer

There is no link to download the guide.

    • Yvonne Seyler

Agreed. I was never able to download the guide. So I applied without it.

  • Hypestyles

Will finalists be expected to interview in person at any point or is the online virtual employment fair the only interview opportunity?

    • Marc

I am pretty sure you can expect in-person interviews for specific positions for which you apply.

    • John David LaCoste

Hello, I am PMF from the 2018 cohort. All agencies handle their PMF program differently, but I only had phone interviews with the agency I ended up taking a position with.

      • Yvonne Seyler

Thank you for that info, John!

  • Marc

So, now that we’re 3+ weeks removed from the closing of the application… How’s everyone’s nerves?

    • Yvonne Seyler

I’m going crazy!! These next few weeks are going to be so long! Oh my gosh.

    • Yvonne Seyler

I’ve been perusing the web for any discussions on the wait and only found this!

    • C

Last year the finalists weren’t announced until the third week of December… but the closing of the application was also delayed. Hopefully they share the finalists next week!

    • Connor

I totally messed up on the first essay question..hopefully they pick the second haha

      • Yvonne Seyler

        Eek! Fingers crossed!!

    • Hypestyles

Best of success to everyone, we’ll see what happens. Hopefully there will be notifications soon.

  • Ryan McCarthy

Our PMF portal says “results will be posted 4-6 weeks from the application close date.” Didn’t it used to say 3-4 weeks or am I insane?

    • Yvonne Seyler

      I don’t know if I saw 3 weeks, but I definitely didn’t see 6 weeks.

      • C.

The 2019 Application timeline page says 4 weeks, but the User Dashboard Application Status states 4-6…. I’m hoping for 4 weeks! 🙂

  • Marc

So I just emailed (cause why not?) and they got back to me immediately and said Finalists are going to be announced “early next week” … Just a few more days!

    • Just an Observer

Very exciting! Good luck to all who applied.

    • Yvonne Seyler

      GOD BLESS YOU

    • Yvonne Seyler

I really hope you get it! 🙂

    • Yvonne Seyler

I am seriously hanging on to this and my hopes are sky high right now. I keep checking this thread, checking my email, and checking the portal :X

      • Ryan McCarthy

I really hope you get it Yvonne! My hopes are pretty low, but I would like closure on this application!

        • C.

I am feeling the same way Ryan. I hope I am given the opportunity, but this is my second time applying – so I am not as optimistic. Last year about 7% of total applicants were selected. I am looking forward to getting closure and seeing how I should best proceed with my career! Best of luck!!

    • molly

I also emailed and they said we would be finding out this week. I wish they were more specific but I appreciate the response regardless. Can’t wait to find out!

      • Yvonne Seyler

        Thanks for confirming!!

      • Ryan McCarthy

The holiday realistically means we will find out by Wednesday.

        • molly

My guess is that we will find out tomorrow around 1pm. Not because I have any insider information, just lots of hope! Haha.

          • Ryan McCarthy

feel the same way about tomorrow, but last year it looks like the announcement was made at Noon ET

          • Yvonne Seyler

Sending both of you so many good vibes ❤︎ ❤︎

  • Hypestyles

can finalists inquire to federal organizations that are not explicitly listed on the list of currently PMF-adjacent agencies?

    • Just an Observer

I’ve read that we can, along with providing the agency with information about the PMF program to sell the benefits of employing a fellow. However, in order to officially be appointed as a PMF fellow in an agency not on the list, that agency would have to pay to participate in the program.

  • Yvonne Seyler

I wonder if there are fewer applicants this year because there are fewer comments on this thread than on previous years’ threads?

    • Ryan McCarthy

Doesn’t seem like there was much advertising for the program this year. Presuming the number of finalist spots remains constant, only betters our chances I suppose.

  • David

Hopefully we find out tomorrow. Something to be thankful for

    • Chief Snider

Fingers crossed. This is my second year. Last year I learned a valuable lesson…. not to check the website 5 times a day for 6 weeks, ha. This is the first time I am even logging into the forums this year. It does seem like a lot less comments than last year. Hopefully that equates to less applicants.

      • C.

        Any updates? Were you selected?

  • Kaden Ross

Has anyone else heard anything? According to the website it should’ve been announced yesterday.

    • Moshhk

It said “approximately” 4 weeks, so everyone is hoping to hear something today

    • Yvonne Seyler

The website never promised a specific date. It’s 4-6 weeks.

  • Ryan McCarthy
    • Ryan McCarthy

list has been updated. my name is on it! https://apply.pmf.gov/finalists.aspx

      • Yvonne Seyler

CONGRATS!!! I can’t get the page to load!!!

If you can load the list, screenshot it!

Dying. Just dying. Ryan, if you’re still on the page, will you check for me?? My name’s not Yvonne.

        • Ryan McCarthy

looks like the site has crashed. Yvonne I am really really sorry but I don’t see your name

          • Yvonne Seyler

Ha, that’s because my real name is not Yvonne Seyler. 😉

          • Ryan McCarthy

don’t know how I missed that in your post

      • Just an Observer

Did you get an email as well? The server is down, so I cannot check my application. I did not consent to be public.

        • Yvonne Seyler

          I haven’t gotten an email

          • Just an Observer

Well, I was not selected. I’m going to work on strengthening my skills and will try again next year.

Congrats and best of luck to the Class of 2019 finalists. Please leave tips and share all you can for future applicants.

          • C.

Any news Yvonne? I am wishing you the best!

          • Yvonne Seyler

I wasn’t selected either! Bit of a surprise because I thought I submitted a strong application. I sent them an email asking for feedback. I’m not expecting them to give it, but I hope they do!

          • C.

Sorry to hear that! It is disappointing. I would be interested to know if they offer you any feedback. Please update if they do! I would enjoy feedback also! With the amount of time invested in the application, in addition to the wait to find out, feedback would be nice. If it makes you feel better, only 8.7% of applicants were selected.

          • Just an Observer

Nope, they don’t provide feedback. I reached out to the PMF team and they advised they don’t release scores or provide feedback. Only to try again next year. It would be nice to at least see how well, or not so well, you did; that would help prep for next year.

        • Ryan McCarthy

I have not gotten an email

  • Connor

Well, I didnt make it. Will apply again next year. Good luck to everyone you guys are great!

  • C.

Congratulations to all who were selected as finalists. Just a few observations, I see the list includes both 2018 and 2019 finalists – with 351 finalists selected for 2019.

I haven’t gotten my official rejection email yet – but I am thinking it will arrive shortly. Looking at the Advanced Degrees and Universities listed, I think that my Master’s Degree is probably not “prestigious enough.” This is my second year applying – so I think this opportunity is not meant for me, unless I decide I’d like to be rejected again next year. 😉
